Innovation 2 Minute Read Revitalising the Clinical Supply Chain with Automation, Visibility and Control November 12, 2024 CASE STUDY The Hermitage Medical Clinic, is a 112-bed private hospital in West Dublin. Its specialised medical teams provide medical, surgical and advanced radiotherapy care to patients and are supported by the very latest technology. The Hermitage Medical Clinic is committed to providing excellence in patient care. Genesis partnered with Hermitage to mitigate manual inventory management and deliver decision-driving insight, enabling it to further elevate its standard of care. THE CHALLENGE Hermitage Medical Clinic struggled with a lack of visibility over its inventory, relying on outdated manual processes that required clinical teams to spend excessive time on tasks like counting stock and compiling reports. These inefficiencies not only impacted the Clinic’s operational workflow but also diverted clinicians from their primary focus – delivering exceptional patient care. Recognising the need for change, Hermitage sought an advanced solution that would automate inventory management, reduce manual labour, and free up clinicalstaff to dedicate more time to patients. Achieving GS1 compliance was a critical goal for the Clinic, as it would enhance supply chain efficiency and provide real-timetraceability for improved safety and resource management. The challenge was compounded by the necessity to retain certain functionalities of their legacy system, making the transition to an automated solution complex. THE SOLUTION By implementing Genesis Point of Care, Inventory & Analytics solutions, Genesis enabled Hermitage to achieve complete clinical traceability. Recognising the need for more efficient and effective supply chain management, the Clinic wanted a partner who would make the implementation process as quick and seamless as possible. Through close collaboration with the Hermitage team, Genesis provided a streamlined roll-out to 13 stock locations, paving the way for complete clinical traceability. The Clinic gained enhanced visibility over care-critical supplies, automating inventory management and enabling its clinicians to focus more time on the most critical aspect of their jobs – delivering quality care. In addition to mitigating manual processes, Hermitage sought to gain greater insight around supply waste and opportunities for cost reduction. Genesis delivered robust analytics that enabled the Clinic to quantify waste, identify areas for improvement, and back every decision with comprehensive data. PROJECT RESULTS – 50% Stock Cut 50% reduction in excess stock within three months, significantly cutting costs, reducing manual tasks, and enhancing supply visibility – enabling clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care. “The results we’ve seen since implementing Genesis are quite impressive. Excess stock presented a substantial, unnecessary cost for Hermitage, and Genesis enabled us to better understand demand, significantly reduce this wasted stock and, in turn, realise measurable cost savings. All of this has empowered us to operate more efficiently and spend much less time focused on inventory management.” Bjoana Djordjevic, Head of Operations and Supply Chain
